The Hokianga Harbour is the area around the natural estuary also called the Hokianga River. The lands are geographically divided into three major areas:
The South of the Harbour with the settlements called:
Waipoua, Waimamaku, Omapere, Opononi, Pakanae, Koutu, Whirinaki, Onoke, Rawene, Waima, Taheke and Moehau
The Top of the Harbour with the settlements called:
Wairere, Horeke, Motukiore, Utakura, Rangiahua and Mangamuka
The North Hokianga with the settlements called:
Broadwood, Pawarenga, Panguru, Mitimiti, Motukaraka, Motuti, Rangi Point and Kohukohu
