There is a freedom camping site on the Horeke Taheke road,  about 6 km from Horeke, or 2.1 km from the turn off to Wairere Boulders.  There are absolutely no facilities available.  The public toilets in the Horeke Hall have to be used.  This site has been established by our County Councillor Joe Carr,  who is interested in tourism and the development of the area.
